Introduction

The Riddhivinayak College of Nursing is an affiliated nursing educational institute to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik; and is recognised by the Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi as well as the Maharashtra State Nursing Council, with due permission from the Government of Maharashtra regarding its purpose of providing and promoting Nursing Education as a field since 2021. A graduate nurse, qualified as B.Sc. (N) at Riddhivinayak College of Nursing is a partner (health team member) who has been trained as a professional nurse through the university affiliated nursing education programme. Riddhivinayak College of Nursing graduates are recognised by the Indian Nursing Council and work independently in the hospital and community.

The philosophy of Riddhivinayak College of Nursing is at par with the Indian Nursing Council & MUHS. It is also well-integrated into the philosophy of Riddhivinayak Multispeciality Hospital Riddhivinayak College of Nursing focuses on national heath goals and is committed to participating in the implementation of the National Health Policy and Programmes (2002). At the end of the B.Sc. Nursing programme, the graduate is a competent Nurse & Midwife with the ability to provide comprehensive healthcare to the client in the hospital and to the community at large.

Aim

Riddhivinayak College of Nursing shoulders the responsibility of preparing a professionally competent Nurse and Midwife at the basic level, providing promotive, preventive, and restorative services, where nurses will be capable of making independent decisions in order to prepare and protect the rights of clients, to facilitate individual and groups in pursuit of their health, and to function in the hospital and in the community by performing the role of teacher, manager, supervisor and researcher.

Riddhivinayak College of Nursing will be recognised for its commitment to the nursing profession through nursing education, leadership, research and contributions to continuing education. Nurses will be provided sound basic nursing education, while being nurtured and encouraged to believe in themselves, instilling the value of serving the society.

Mission

Preparing caring, concerned, compassionate, competent professional nurses capable of rendering the highest level of quality care, who make contributions in education and research in the field of nursing. Providing Basic B.Sc. Nursing as well as other nursing education, including continuing education programmes like Post Basic B.Sc. and M.Sc. Nursing at the postgraduate level. T he Riddhivinayak College of Nursing plans to establish itself as one of the country's premier healthcare initiatives in the private sector, in its initial commissioning and longterm development.

Objectives

At the end of the B.Sc. nursing training programme, the graduates will be able to:

1. Apply knowledge from physical, biological and behavioral sciences, medicine, including alternative systems to provide nursing care to individuals, families and communities.

2. Demonstrate an understanding of lifestyle and other factors which affect the health of individuals and groups.

3. Provide nursing care based on the steps of the nursing process, in collaboration with individuals and groups.

4. Demonstrate critical thinking skills while making decisions in any situation, in order to provide quality care.

5. Utilise the latest trends and technology in providing healthcare.

6. Provide promotive, preventive and restorative health services, in line with the National Health Policies and Programmes.

7. Practice within the framework of the code of ethics and professional conduct and acceptable standards of practice within the legal boundaries.

8. Communicate effectively with individuals and groups and members of the health team in order to promote effective interpersonal relationships and teamwork.

Clinical Practice Area

It is selected to have a link between higher nursing education and better patient care, to put theoretical inputs into practice and to develop cognitive ability, in order to provide nursing care to the clients in the hospital and in the community for Basic B.Sc. (N)

Affiliated Hospital : Aayush Hospital and its associated units of Psyciatric health

Associated Hospital : Riddhivinayak multi-speciality hospital at Nallasopara (PALGHAR 401203) with selected superspeciality units and 2 Centres of Excellence, which has a capacity of 200 beds. Community Health Nursing Rural Hospital, Palghar, Maharashtra, which has a population of more than 25 lakhs. Rural Hospital Virar, Dist. Thane and Urban Public Health Centre, VVCMC.

Future Plans

1. To strengthen nursing education in the state and India by offering different educational programmes under Riddhivinayak College of Nursing, with the association of Riddhivinayak Multispeciality Hospital, which is recognised by the Indian Nursing Council and is affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences.

2. Post-graduation (Masters of Nursing) in various specialities such as, Cardio-vascular Nursing, Paediatric Nursing, Oncology Nursing, Obstetrics & Gynaecology Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Neurology Nursing Mental Health & Psychiatry Nursing, etc.

3. Certificate courses under the university departments and affiliated colleges of the university, such as short-term certificate courses of 3 months, certificate courses of 6 months and fellowship courses of 9 months. These courses may include nursing subjects like Neonatal Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, Emergency and Disaster Nursing, CVTS Nursing, Neuro Science Nursing, Operation Room Nursing, Oncology Nursing, Geriatric Nursing, Industrial/Occupational Health Nursing & Mental Health Nursing, among others.
